Heat oil in a kadhai. Add onion , garlic , green chilies , ginger and saute till onion turns translucent .
Now add coriander , tamarind paste and salt. Saute for 30 seconds. Turn off the heat and grind to a smooth paste when cool.
Serve this chatpata chutney with any South Indian snack like idli, dosa, vada, etc.
